Clay as the Bone, Fire as the Verse: The Raw, Smoldering Vitality Hidden Within Wet-Extruded Tiles.
We are always seeking spaces that can hold our emotions. After seeing too many mass-produced, flawless industrial tiles, stepping into a boutique homestay or an independent café often instantly captivates us with a relaxed, raw atmosphere: the walls lack rigid, symmetrical patterns; the glaze tones blend naturally in varying depths. As light falls upon the surface, the undulating textures cast layered, gentle shadows, carrying a profound sense of time and a story of life.
This unique spatial vitality stems entirely from Kiln Ember, the signature masterpiece Wet Extrusion Process from MOMO.
Rejecting Industrial Standardization: Letting the Clay Breathe Again
Preserving the raw texture of the clay is the gentlest core of the wet extrusion process. After being tempered in a kiln at over 1,000°C, each tile develops its own distinct pattern. No two tiles from Kiln Ember are exactly alike. The subtle vertical flow lines left by extrusion, the tonal variations from the wandering kiln fire, and the natural iron spots inherent in the clay are all nature's signatures that machines can never replicate.
Many people may initially wonder about the slight dimensional variations, the softly rounded edges, or the shallow pinholes on the surface. These are never defects. In the European standard for handmade tiles, this is known as Artisan Grading A (Artisan Marks)—the beautiful traces of the collision between clay and fire. The slight irregularities caused by natural shrinkage during high-temperature firing, the soft rounded edges worn by long-term mold usage, and the micro-pores formed by the burnout of organic matter in the clay body all come together to create the exclusive "breathability" of handmade tiles.
The wall is no longer a rigid, flat plane. As light dances across it, the subtle staggering between tiles and the interplay of light and shadow on the textured surface make the entire space feel as if it is breathing slowly—vibrant and healing.

Key Features and Advantages
01
Dimensional Tolerance (±1.5mm)
Resulting from wet-cutting variances and uneven firing shrinkage. This is a hallmark of Grade A tiles.
02
Slightly Rounded Edges
Caused by die wear and the natural leveling of wet clay, reflecting true handcrafted character.
03
Pinholes / Minor Pits
Resulting from the burnout of trace organic matter in the clay body. This is a certified feature of our "Fired Expression" standard.
04
Kiln Color Variation
Caused by fluctuations in the reduction firing atmosphere, serving as a premium value point for high-end artisanal tiles.
05
Dimensional Disclaimer
This product is a non-standard, handcrafted tile. Natural variations of 1-2mm in width, length, and thickness are to be expected. These are not quality defects; rather, they are the hallmark of the "breathing" handcrafted aesthetic. If strict uniformity is required, please opt for industrial porcelain tiles.
06
Regarding Shade Variation
Due to the wet extrusion process and kiln transformation, tiles within the same batch will exhibit gradual shade variations ranging from light to dark.Occasional iron spots (small black specks) or minor pits may also be present. In the European market, these characteristics are recognized as the hallmark of "Artisan Grading A."
07
Installation Guidelines
Please engage an installer specifically experienced in handcrafted/artisanal tile installation (standard large-format slab experience is not applicable).A 5-8mm open joint is strictly required. Butt-jointing (groutless installation) is prohibited. Use a cementitious grout. For textured/natural surfaces, a professional squeeze-in grouting method is highly recommended. The installer must accommodate slight misalignments during setting. This intentional asymmetry is a core design intent of this collection.
